Executive Producer of Fred: The Movie Brian Robbins is executive producer of Fred: The Movie, premiering on Nickelodeon Saturday, Sept.18, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). Robbins career in Hollywood as a filmmaker, television producer and actor has spanned three decades. He is currently executive producer of the Disney Channel hit series Sonny with a Chance, and the Spike TV series Blue Mountain State, about to begin its second season on the network. He also produced through his Varsity Pictures entertainment company the Nickelodeon television movie Fred: The Movie, based on the incredibly popular series of YouTube short films. Robbins began his career as an actor, appearing on several hit television series in the 1980s including his role as Eric Mardian on ABC’s Head of the Class. He continued to write, produce and direct television shows and feature films including the documentary Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream, which won the prestigious Peabody Award and was nominated for an Academy Award. Robbins also received a DGA Award for directing Nickelodeon's Sports Theater with Shaquille O'Neal. In 1996, Robbins and Michael Tollin founded Tollin Robbins Productions and for the next 11 years, produced together several popular television series including One Tree Hill, entering its eighth season, and Smallville marking its tenth season—both on the CW network. The duo also produced such hit series as Arli$$, The Amanda Show, What I Like About You, Kenan & Kel, All That, and the ESPN mini-series The Bronx is Burning. They also produced several feature films including Coach Carter, Big Fat Liar, Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story, Summer Catch and Radio. Robbins’ box office hits include Norbit, starring Eddie Murphy; Wild Hogs with Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy; Varsity Blues; The Shaggy Dog; The Perfect Score; Hardball; and Good Burger, based on a popular skit from Nickelodeon's long-running sketch comedy series, All That. He is currently in post production on A Thousand Words starring Eddie Murphy.
